It’s only been a month since Mozilla had released their Firefox 4. Now it’s the time for their Firefox version 5.

The latest version Firefox looks similar to its previous version. The change that you will notice easily is the tracking feature (options->privacy). User’s information will not be collected if we enable that option. There are some other newly added features which may not be identified by users. Mozilla has done some sort of improvement in JavaScript integration, Networking and Memory usage. Since Google Chrome is on its way to a better success, Mozilla needs to have some additional improvements to defend that battle run. So this time Firefox has added some advancements in the support for HTML 5, SMIL, XHR, MathML and Canvas. Memory stealing issue has been fixed in this version. For gaining some more Linux users they have improved the Linux desktop environment integration a little more than the previous.

Mozilla has not made the latest release official yet. Now it’s available on the FTP servers. Hopefully the official release will be on June 22nd.
There are also some improvements in the security and performance side like Mozilla has made better the HTML 5 support that i mentioned above. In my opinion most of the new additions will not influence the users much like the previous version and more than that the add-ons that were compatible with the older version will not be worked on this newly released Firefox, so if you need to make use of those add-ons you should stay with the previous version.
At the time of the development of Firefox 5 they had reported that a lot of new features would come to enhance its interface, option to attach the sites on the Windows 7 task bar was the major one and a PDF reader integration. But unfortunately none of the above features came into the reality.
This was not the case a few years ago, Firefox was the level of quality when the term Internet Browsing comes to our mind. But soon after the Google Chrome started building their battlefield with a lot of armories. We can hope for a better recovery for Firefox soon.
