iPhone dev-team has just updated their popular jailbreak tool for a tethered action, redsn0w 0.9.8b6 for the 6th beta version of iOS 5. You need to be aware of some important things about this latest redsn0w version.
- Before starting the jailbreak process, please let your Apple iOS device boot normally to the latest iOS 5 Beta 6, and you must do a clean shutdown by slide to power off method.
- Do not worry if you see a black screen on tethered boot because boot logos are not enabled currently. You can enable it back by the command-line options if needed.

A lot of complaints had reported because of the previous version redsn0w for the same iOS update. It looks like using the iDevices are a little bit hard after the jailbreak action using the previous version redsn0w. If you have already done the jailbreak using it, just restore the iOS via iTunes and then run redsn0w 0.9.8b6 again. There isn’t any difference in the interface of this latest release, you can perform the jailbreak action like what you did with the older one.
Don’t forget that this is a tethered jailbreak, a boot utility is a must every time you restart your iOS device. Most of you will have doubted about this release, whether this update is just clearing the bug that had occurred with the previous version, dint do anything for the untethered jailbreak. Since this iOS release is a beta one, there isn’t any matter of fact regarding the release of an untethered jailbreak tool. So better be patient for the public release.
According to the developers in the iOS jailbreak community, Apple will do the things in a better way to keep the jailbreaking away from iOS 5. So it doesn’t seem that much easy for them to execute the iOS 5 vulnerabilities. But still we can hope for the best.
